Often the use of an escrow agent is required for the closing of an international business transaction. An escrow agent is an independent third party, who acts as agent for the buyer and seller, or for the borrower and lender at the same time.
The escrow agent carries out the instructions of both parties, delivers documents and disburses funds as mutually agreed in advance. The transfer of property, funds or document is only completed upon fulfillment of certain conditions specified in the written instructions, whereupon the necessary deeds and other instruments are recorded.
